Salvino's Biography

Born in Partinico, Sicily, Italy Salvatore and Silvana were destined to be great restaurateurs. Good food and hospitality was in their blood and they knew from the start that's where they belonged.

Silvana came to America in 1972 with her family at the age of 7. Growing up in the restaurant industry with her extended family, she worked for the original Vitale's on Leonard. That business is still going strong 50 years later. Three short years later, Vitales of Allegan was opened by her Mother and Father. Silvana worked closely with her parents and family to learn and perfect the art of Italian cuisine. In 1992, she opened her own Vitales in Rockford, where she continues to create new dishes and uphold the original recipes of the family.

Salvatore came to America in 1998 and in his first year bought the Florentines on Plainfield. Recently he passed down the family legacy to his sons. Flo's is now thriving in several locations around West Michigan. Being friends and family, Salvatore and Silvana made the business decision to purchase Joes Way Pizza in Wayland, which they owned and operated successfully for 5 years. Knowing they wanted to expand, they built Uccellos of Wayland in 2006. Their continued success and love of the business has led them to their newest endeavor, Salvino's. Their new collection of restaurants will combine two families with the same love of food and friendship.
